METAL AGAINST SKIN
The plastic work of Daniel Borda with an always growing elaborated and effective execution keeps getting richer with his present conceptual discourse. Taking advantage of his great expertise to call up with the quality of his textures, he brings up situations and unanswered questions which come after contemplation. This is how in his new production, the richness and sensuality of his previous work is in contrast with the forcefulness and solidity of the objects he compares with. From a magnificent perspective that magnifies his topics, he grants them a presence that takes them out of their condition of simple objects to become protagonist symbols.
Further than still live or esthetic composition, finely executed with a great drawing and accurate use of color and light, his scenes are an evocation that overcome the representation and take the spectator to a finish- discourse. Projectiles magnified, solitaire or in groups, that almost turn into monuments, a hat floating on water representing the evidence of its disappeared owner, cartridge belts as contradiction to the rainbow, lipsticks that more than elements to enhance feminine charm resemble bullets to go to combat, domestic gas pipes hanging in middle of the landscape like Damocles swards, very tender children faces in the middle of all this ensemble are a touch of consciousness of the observer.
The artist, without resigning to his fine sensibility for the ludic and the beauty, finding himself in middle of a society in conflict, makes evidence of the anxiety and drama due to the situation he is living.
